Who can enroll at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic School?
All children in Bellefonte, Penns Valley, Bald Eagle and State College School Districts are eligible for
enrollment at Saint John Catholic School.
What is the tuition for Saint John School?
The tuition for the 2012-2013 school year for Catholic families is $ 1975/year for the first child, $1775 for the
second. Tuition rates continue to decrease with each additional children enrolled.
The tuition for non-Catholic families is $2575/year for the first child, $2375/year for the second. Tuition
rates continue to decrease with each additional child enrolled.
What if I cannot afford the tuition?
Every attempt is made to make the tuition manageable for each family. No child is ever turned away for not
being able to afford tuition.
Do my children have to be Catholic to attend Saint John school?
No.
Is transportation provided?
Saint John students are provided busing by their local school district.
Can students transfer to Saint John School after Kindergarten or mid-year?
Saint John has open enrollment. While it is easiest on the student to enter at the start of a school year,
students can enter Saint John School at any time.
Do Saint John students participate in the PSSA (Pennsylvania School System Assessment)?
No, Saint John students in grades 2-5 participate in the Iowa Test of Basic Skills each spring. 4th grade
students also participate in The Cognitive Abilities Test.
Are Saint John graduates prepared for public school and further education?
Saint John students leave with solid study and test taking preparation skills. A high percentage of students
go on to attend post-secondary education after graduation from high school.
Is there a possibility for continued Catholic education beyond Saint John School?
Yes. Students are able to attend 6th, 7th, and 8th grades at Our Lady of Victory Catholic School in State
College. Beginning in the fall of 2011 students will be able to attend 9th and 10th grades at Saint Joseph's
Catholic Academy in Boalsburg.
